For over 20 years and multiple album releases, Dahi Divine pushes the boundaries of music with his saxophone playing, composition, and production.
Through the expressive medium of the saxophone, Dahi's music embraces the improvisational spirit of jazz and urban poetry of hip-hop. He started paying his dues and honing his chops in the crucible of the New York City jazz scene where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Performance. He found his voice as part of the early 2000’s hip-hop generation and influenced by the tapestry of the local music scene and vibrant cultural hub of Philadelphia where he earned his Master's Degree in Jaz Studies at Temple University. Divine's shows captivate audiences worldwide igniting the stage with electrifying performances and genre-defying sound.
This May, Dahi is releasing his second, self-produced modern jazz album, Audessy. What he describes as "his journey of spiritual growth, blending soulful jazz harmonies with the ancestral pulse of diasporic rhythms." A follow-up to his 2015 modern jazz release and recording debut as a leader titled, The Element. Another self-produced project featuring all-original material.
A notable achievement in his career is his selection by Jazz At Lincoln Center, to perform a premier at the Summergarden in New York. An honor reserved for "buzzworthy" emerging artist. Other achievements are his contributions to the recordings of an array of artists, like H.E.R. and Solange, as well as established icons such as Dave Matthews, Rihanna, and Ellie Goulding.
This year, Dahi won a Grammy Award for his contribution on Tye Tribbett's Grammy Winning Best Live Gospel Album of the Year, All Things New Live In Orlando.
Whether he's peforming or crafting lush soundscapes in the studio, his passion for music knows no bounds.
